Durango Parks and Recreation Begins Snowmaking at Chapman Hill

Durango, COThe Durango Parks and Recreation Department has started snowmaking operations on the ski hill at Chapman Hill in preparation for this winter’s ski/snowboard season.  City staff are testing and training on the equipment this week and will be making snow for as many hours as possible each day until opening, weather permitting.  While the current snow storm is predicted to produce several inches of snow, at least a foot of snow is needed for the ski hill to open.  The City intends to open the ski hill to the public in time for the School District 9-R Christmas break.

Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 375-7300 with any questions regarding the snowmaking effort at Chapman Hill.
