Free La Plata County & Durango Area Bike Map

Durango, CO – La Plata County is a great place to ride a bike! Road cyclists and mountain bike enthusiasts have a wide variety of venues to choose from, but unless familiar with the roads and terrain, cyclists can find themselves on rides that they were not prepared for.

 

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable ride for visitors and residents alike, La Plata County staff, together with local cycling advocacy groups – Trails 2000, Healthy Lifestyle La Plata, Safe Roads Coalition and the Iron Horse Bike Classic – have created a La Plata County & Durango Area Bike Map.

 

The map includes descriptions of six popular rides on rural roads in La Plata County, and offers ideas of best ways to get in and around Durango on a bike. The map has general information on mileage, elevation profiles, general road surface types, and even offers a few safety tips! The map also shows mountain bike trail access points with general trails indicated. 

 

Citizens can pick up a free map at area bike shops, at the City of Durango Transit Center, the La Plata County Courthouse Information Desk and other local businesses.
