FREE SKIING at Hillcrest Golf Course 

Durango, CO – Two words you don’t often hear together…free and skiing…but that is exactly what you get at the Hillcrest Golf Course/Cross Country Ski Area located conveniently near Fort Lewis College in the heart of Durango.

Due to the generosity of Hillcrest Golf Course and its 1000+ members, the community is welcom e to use the facility to cross country ski or snowshoe, and it is all FREE.

According to Will Herz, Assistant Superintendent, Hillcrest Golf Course and former Durango junior Nordic coach, “with the recent snow and cold weather, the track is in the best shape it has been in years. We are seeing record numbers using the track each day and would love to see more of the community take advantage of this great winter recreation asset. The artfully groomed track is the result of new grooming equipment which also makes the track easier to maintain.”

The course is open seven days a week, with heated bathrooms and two parking lots (upper and lower). The only request from the golf course is to ski on the groomed track. Of course donations are gladly accepted to help offset labor/equipment costs (donation box located on course.)
