Join the 5K Run for Teddy
Durango, CO – DurangoParks and Recreation and the First Baptist Church of Durango are partnering to host Teddy’s Run on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Kicking off at 10:00 a.m., the race will benefit Teddy Rodd, a local 10-year-old boy who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Teddy is currently undergoing extensive medical treatment for his condition at Children’s Hospital in Denver.
Replacing Durango Parks and Recreation’s annual Valentine’s 5K race, Teddy’s Run will feature a free one-mile fun run for children as well as a 5K race for all ages. As Durango’s first footrace of the new year, the event starts and finishes at the Durango Community Recreation Center with the one mile event first. Both race routes will consist of an out and back course along the scenic Animas River Trail. Runners, joggers, walkers, children and dogs are all invited to participate in the event. Dogs must be on a leash.
The event is free, but $10 is the suggested donation to race. “Team Teddy” shirts will also be available for purchase on race day. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Rodd family for medical expenses.
Race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 13 at the Durango CommunityRecreation Center. For more information, contact Race Director Ken Flint at (970) 749-4290 or via email at [email protected].
