DMR announces third Locals Day to benefit KSUT, Music in the Mountains Goes to School
February 2, 2010, Durango, CO – It’s Groundhog Day, and if you believe the legend, there’s another six weeks of winter on the way to Purgatory, which already has received more than 160 inches of snow this winter. Sunday, Feb. 7, is Purgatory’s third Locals Day of the season, with $39 adult lift tickets and $25 child lift tickets to benefit KSUT public radio and the Music in the Mountains Goes to School Program, which supports music education in local schools.
“Durango Mountain Resort is proud to continue our longstanding tradition of giving back to the local community,” said Gary Derck, CEO. “Music enriches our lives, and we are pleased to support the efforts of both KSUT and Music in the Mountains to bring music to our community and our schools.” Locals Day coupons can be found online at KSUT.org and Buzztown.com, and in Thursday’s edition of the Durango Telegraph.
In ski racing action this weekend, Purgatory hosts the Purgatory Cup Giant Slalom on Sunday and the Animas Surgical Hospital SW Freestyle Open on Saturday and Sunday. The Purgatory Cup is a four-race series consisting of two slaloms and two giant slaloms that are open to skiers ages 4 and above and all ability levels. Competition is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
