Durango, CO – The 6th Annual Durango Parks and Recreation Triathlon kicks-off from the Durango Community Recreation Center on Saturday, August 1st at 8:00 a.m.  By incorporating sprint triathlon distances, Durango Parks and Recreation created a practical race for the beginner triathlete as well as the seasoned veteran, looking to complete a competitive training course.  The race begins and ends at the Durango Community Recreation Center.  The course includes a 500-yard swim in the lap pool, a 13-mile bike ride, and a 5K (3.1 miles) run.

Durango Parks and Recreation Triathlon will include chip timing in order to provide participants with accurate finish and split times.  Each participant will also receive a unique and quality running hat.

All racers may pick up their packets at the Durango Community Recreation Center on Friday, July 31 between 4:30 and 8:00 p.m.  Heat sheets for the swim will be posted at packet pick-up.  All racers must also check in prior to the race on Saturday, August 1 in the Aquatics Area at the Durango Community Recreation Center. Course maps are available at the Durango Community Recreation Center.  Racers may participant individually or as a team.

Following the race, participants and their families will gather at the Durango Community Recreation Center Amphitheater for a barbeque with friends and family and share in the success of the day.  As participants enjoy the barbeque lunch and post-race refreshments, awards will be presented.  Friends and family may partake in the barbeque for a nominal $5.00 fee.
