Registration is now open for training for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. The comprehensive 6 month training program is offered at Anytime Fitness and the Durango Rec Center. This is the 8th year for the program.
Iron Horse Training offers a six month training program starting on December 5th and continuing through May. The Iron Horse Training program starts with 16 weeks of indoor riding on spin bikes, along with information about nutrition, strength training, climbing and includes 8 weeks of training outside starting April 7th culminating with the ride on Saturday May 26th, 2012. The training is for both participants who want to complete the Quarter Horse or go all the way to Silverton.
Each week, the spinning classes are information-packed to teach participants how to get the most out of their training program, equipment and nutrition. In addition, educational materials are provided to our participants weekly. Our training team has consolidated and tailored information from experts to help our participants have a successful ride. Our past participants have a 97% success rate for completing the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.
The program is for first time riders and experienced cyclists who want to shave some time off from their previous performance. The classes at Anytime Fitness will be an advanced class for more experienced cyclists.
Classes at the Rec Center are at 7:00a.m. and 1:00p.m on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and yoga class on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00a.m. and Saturday at 8:30a.m. Sign up is at the rec center. Classes at Anytime Fitness are at 6:15a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sign up is at Mountain Bike Specialists at 949 Main Avenue or by mail.

The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is held in Durango, Colorado on
