San Juan Stage Race January 20-24

In Southwest Colorado, we have a very special event.  The San Juan Stage race is a dogsled race that draws mushers and spectators from near and far. Not only is it a fun event, but we also raise money for a great cause.  The Cystic Fibrosis foundation is near and dear to our hearts and we are excited to donate proceeds from the event to help make CF stand for “Cure Found”.  Last year’s event raised over $2000 for the charity and we are hoping to surpass that in 2010.

125 MILES

Four Days, For Mushers, By Mushers

We are now planning for the 2010 race happening from January 20-24 with two stages in Mancos, one in Silverton, and our favorite stage down the winding slopes of Hermosa Creek Road at Durango Mountain Resort.  Each year this event attracts mushers from Colorado and other Western States and as far as Canada, Alaska and even Virginia.  We hope to make this year’s event bigger and better with your help.

There are many events planned for the week including  a “Meet the Mushers” Banquet at a downtown Durango location with locally brewed beer for the event,  a truck parade down Main Avenue, and snowmobile auctions from Snowmobile adventures for on  course viewing.  There will be food and vendors at all stages as well as hats, t-shirts and posters for sale recognizing some of our generous sponsors.
