Snowmaking Begins at Chapman Hill
Snowmaking Begins at Chapman Hill
Durango Parks and Recreation Department will start snowmaking operations on the ski hill at Chapman Hill in preparation for this winter’s ski/snowboard season. City staff will be testing and operating the equipment starting Monday, December 6 and will be making snow for as many hours as possible each day as the weather permits. At least a foot of snow is needed for the ski hill to open and the City hopes to open the ski hill in time for the 9-R School District Christmas break on Saturday, December 18.
Join us on Saturday mornings at Chapman Hill for “Youth Learn to Skate Lessons.” Youth ages 3 – 17 years and all ability levels will learn to ice skate from qualified instructors on December 4, January 8, January 29, February 19 and March 19.
