Lake Nighthorse is NOW open!
New this year:
- PFDs now required on all paddle crafts: Per Colorado State Ordinances, all paddle crafts must be equipped with enough PFDs for everyone on board, a sound signaling device (such as a whistle), and the craft must be labeled with the owner’s name, phone number, and address.
In Colorado, it is required for paddlers to have a PFD on their craft at all times. We recommend that all boaters wear a PFD when on the water. Children 12 and under are required to wear their PFD at all times while on a paddle craft. - Construction: The Lake Nighthorse entryway will be under construction throughout the spring and summer of 2024. The City of Durango will be making improvements to the entryway driveisle and installing a new boat decontamination station to ensure more efficient traffic flow and more reliable prevention of Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) at the lake. Please take note that the construction will cause impacts to normal traffic flow and may increase wait times for entry – plan accordingly!
