Durango Christmas Events 2019

Durango sure knows how to do the holidays!  Get out there, sing some songs, meet Santa and spread some Christmas cheer!

Singing with Santa

Start the holiday season with Singing with Santa. This annual event which takes place the day after Thanksgiving. Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and march on Main Avenue while singing Christmas carols at this fun meet-up.

Singing with Santa will take place at 6 p.m. Friday the 29th at TBK Bank, 259 West Ninth St.

Carolers will follow Santa’s sleigh from TBK Bank to Buckley Park, where there will be free cookies and hot cocoa, a countdown the tree-lighting and people may take pictures with Santa.

Community members are encouraged to bring one of the following donation items at the start of the event: cans of food, hand warmers, socks, gloves, beanies, coats (used) and blankets (used).

All items will be donated to Manna’s kitchen and clients.

The Polar Express

Your kids are not going to want to miss riding on The Polar Express in Durango! Every year, one of the trains from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum is transformed into the famous Polar Express. During the 1 ½ hour train ride, you’ll be treated to a reading of The Polar Express while sipping on hot chocolate. When you approach the North Pole, you’ll be greeted by Santa Claus!

The Majesty of Christmas

FRI, DEC 20th 2019 at 7 PM – THE MAJESTY OF CHRISTMAS
No Santa. No Frosty or Rudolph, just great Christmas music. Join Rochelle Mann, Gemma Kavanagh, the Durango Chamber Singers, Bailey Barnes-Fagg and C. Scott Hagler for an evening of beautiful Christmas music.

More Christmas Productions at FLC

There are several concerts and productions sure to rouse your holiday spirits!  There is a multi-choir performance called Colors of the Season on the 6th, Viva Snow! by the Durango Choral Society on the 8th, and several showings of The Nutcracker from the 13th to the 15th.

Holiday Arts and Craft Fair

The Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair at LaPlata County Fairgrounds is from December 6th – 8th, 2019 at 2pm at the La Plata County Fair Grounds.

Over 100 creative vendors from the surrounding four corners will have their handcrafted arts and crafts for sale. From homemade jellies, sauces, dips, treats to blown, fused and stain glass, embroidered art, clothing, Christmas Decor, barnwood decor, pottery, angel decor, sculptures, candles, diffusers, all kinds of body and beauty products, Alpaca yarn and decor, Native American decor, fleece socks, gloves and so much more! Come check us out, spin the wheel to win a door prize, enter to win a large flat screen HDTV and don’t forget stop and have a bite to eat at the cafe.

Noel Night

Check out Noel Night, Durango’s Christmas Party! Taking place on December 6th, 2019, this annual event features shopping specials all day long.

Every December, Local First, and its partners present Noel Night, a family-friendly event where you can enjoy special offers, live music and entertainment, and delicious holiday treats!
