Community Concert Hall and Alpine Bank team up for summer concert series

Buckley Park in Downtown Durango to be the venue for FREE Thursday evening shows

Durango, CO – Alpine Bank of Durango and the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College have teamed up for a special free summer concert series in Durango’s Buckley Park.

“Alpine Bank and Your Community Concert Hall present Concerts in the Park” on four consecutive Thursdays: July 12, 19 and 26 and August 2, 2012, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
“We truly enjoy making live music more accessible to a broader audience,” said Charles Leslie, Concert Hall director. “With the support of Alpine Bank we are able to stage these four family-friendly evenings of music free of charge. Bring your picnic and lawn chair or blanket and enjoy some great live music.”

The scheduled line-up is:
§ July 12 – MacCluskey Latta World Music Duo featuring Celtic and jazz performed by Chad MacCluskey and Jonathan Latta.
§ July 19 – Americana music with singer/songwriter Bonnie Bishop, followed by local bluegrass favorites Wild Mountain.
§ July 26 – The Hounds of Purg are back in town with new music and rock ‘n’ roll covers, followed by singer/songwriter Robby Overfield.
§ August 2 – Dancing may be a priority with the upbeat rhythms of The Assortment followed by the Kirk James Blues Band.

“We’ve been working with the Concert Hall for the past several years with the Fridays at the Fort goes Downtown, and it’s been very popular,” said Beth Drum, Alpine Bank vice president. “However, we held those events on the street, which was a little hot in the middle of summer. Doing the series at Buckley Park on the grass, under the trees will be perfect.”
Buckley Park is located in the 1200 block of Main Ave. (between 12th and 13th Streets) on the north end of Durango’s historic downtown.

The Community Concert Hall is a not-for-profit, multi-use performance venue located on the campus of Fort Lewis College. Its ability to bring a diverse spectrum of shows to Southwest Colorado is made possible through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, and financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.

Employee-owned and operated, Alpine Bank has been a part of the Western Slope of Colorado for 39 years. With 37 convenient locations, they serve over 130,000 customers with retail, business, trust, asset management, mortgage, and electronic banking services. Many of the employees and managers have been with Alpine Bank for 10 years or longer. This dedication allows Alpine Bank to build long-term customer relationships. In fact, much of the original Board of Directors is still with the Bank, including Chairman Bob Young.
