We’re quickly approaching Halloween, and did you know Durango has a few fun events to celebrate this time of year?
One of the local favorites is PEANUTS The Great Pumpkin Patch Express aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. There are a handful of days offered in October. The ride takes a half hour to the pumpkin patch, and kids are given trick or treat bags to use when they get to the patch. At the pumpkin patch, there is live music, a costume contest, a maze, hay bale wagon ride, and more. Small kids may enjoy the bounce house, crafts, trick or treating, and pumpkin decorating. Adults can enjoy horseshoes and wine and beer tasting and purchases. The pumpkin patch also offers putt-putt golf, face painting, a football kicking contest, and more. This is a fun event for the entire family, and the perfect way to enjoy this season. There’s also the Falfa Pumpkin Patch, a local option, where visitors can pick pumpkins off the vine. Kids can enjoy the static train with a slide and a barrel train that rides them around the pumpkin patch.
For a unique experience, Horsefly History Tours offers some of Durango’s hidden history. The Underground Ghost Tour is a Halloween-themed tour that shows an underground tunnel in downtown Durango and gives some of the rich history and stories behind it.
